These rosebuds made me think about the lives that end before they have the chance to experience all that was ahead of them. We tend to imagine life moving forward in a certain way. We assume there will be more time, more experiences, and more opportunities waiting for us.
We are reminded that life can change in an instant, but it often feels distant until it happens to someone we know or love. This painting reflects on that reality and on the uncertainty that exists beneath even our most certain expectations for the future.
