This painting brings together three roses at very different points in their lives. One is just beginning, still waiting to open. One is fully present, holding onto most of its petals. Another is nearly gone, with only a single petal remaining.
What drew me to this arrangement was seeing all three stages existing together in the same space. Looking at them made me think about how life is always unfolding around us in this way. There are people just entering the world, people living through the middle of their lives, and people approaching the end of theirs. We all exist alongside one another, even though we are moving through very different stages in life.
