This painting looks at what it means to reach the end of one life while others are only just beginning. The central flower carries all the marks of having lived through every stage, while the unopened buds still have their entire lives ahead of them. I was interested in placing these moments side by side and thinking about how every life exists within a larger cycle. One comes to an end as another quietly begins, reminding us that growth, change, and loss are never separate from one another.
