One of the things I find most interesting about flowers is that change rarely happens all at once. Often there is a small area that begins to fade or break down while the rest of the flower still appears full of life.
This calla lily caught my attention because of that contrast. The brown section running through the center felt like the first visible sign of time passing, while the rest of the flower continued to hold its shape and color. I often think about flowers as mirrors of the human experience, and this piece became a reflection on how change usually arrives gradually. There is often a moment where the first signs appear, long before everything else follows.
