One thing I have noticed from spending so much time observing flowers is that they all age differently. Some lose their form completely, collapsing in on themselves until they barely resemble the flower they once were. Others hold onto their shape for much longer, even as everything else begins to change.
This calla lily caught my attention because of how much of its form remained intact while its color shifted dramatically. I am fascinated by how flowers do not simply fade but become something new.
The same happens with people. Some changes are easy to recognize because they alter our appearance, while others happen more gradually beneath the surface. This painting became a reflection on that balance between what changes and what stays, and how even when something remains recognizable, it is never the same as it was before.
